Hogan Lovells Cadwalader is a global law firm advising businesses, financial institutions and governments on corporate, finance, regulatory and disputes. Hogan Lovells Cadwalader offers programmes to develop future commercial lawyers. Its main route to qualification is the two-year Training Contract, where trainees complete four six-month seats across different practice areas, such as corporate, finance, global regulatory and litigation. This allows trainees to build technical legal skills while gaining exposure to industries and clients. The firm offers Vacation Schemes for students and graduates to experience life at Hogan Lovells Cadwalader. Over three weeks, participants rotate across two seats, gaining practical experience through tasks such as drafting documents, researching cases and attending client meetings, while being guided by lawyers and developing insight into the firm’s culture. At the end of the scheme, students have the opportunity to interview for a training contract with the firm. Trainees are supported through mentoring, regular feedback and tailored learning programmes designed to support their growth at every stage. The firm also offers opportunities such as client and international secondments, allowing trainees to gain insight into different offices, clients and industries within a global environment. Trainees can also get involved with BaSE, the firm’s business and social enterprise initiative. BaSE combines legal expertise with social impact by supporting entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses that may not otherwise have access to legal advice. Through this programme, junior lawyers can develop practical skills, work directly with clients and contribute to projects that create positive change.
