Transport for London (TfL) are responsible for the day-to-day operation of London’s public transport network and manage London’s main roads. They are committed to achieving the Mayor’s goal of making London carbon neutral by 2030 and supporting a green recovery to become a world-leading smart city. TfL offers a diverse range of opportunities including graduate schemes, summer placements and industry internships. Opportunities vary from engineering, project management, real estate, operations, technology, finance and many other areas. Each programme provides comprehensive training and development opportunities to help build a successful career. Individuals will gain hands-on experience, work on impactful projects, and contribute to the smooth functioning of London’s transport network. Roles are based across London with hybrid working depending on the placement. The graduate development programme consists of up to 6 structured placement rotations which vary from 3 to 6 months, giving graduates the opportunity to work on several projects. Technical and professional development is supported through a wide range of on-the-job practical experiences including a combination of classroom-led and online training courses, mentoring and structured networking opportunities with scheme alumni. Some programmes will result in industry recognised qualifications such as Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and others. One-to-one support is provided through a placement manager, responsible for day-to-day management and support; a scheme sponsor, a senior manager who acts as a technical and professional adviser; and a development adviser, who will support professional development through career coaching and career progression at TfL.
